Beauty YouTuber Shani Grimmond is a self-proclaimed tanning addict. She absolutely loves the feeling of being bronzed and has been a dedicated weekly self tanner for the past four years! It’s safe to say that Shani knows a thing or two about tanning!

P.S. In this video Shani uses the Bondi Sands Ultra Dark Self Tanning Foam but the same tips and tricks apply to our Light/Medium and Dark Self Tanning Foams 😉

 

Step One - Tanning Preparation

  • Have a really hot shower (as hot as you can take it) and stand under the hot water for a few minutes to open up all of your pores;

  • Use an Exfoliating Mitt to get all of the dead skin off your body and scrub as hard as you can for 5 minutes;

  • Shave;

  • Turn hot water off and turn freezing cold on so all of your pores will close;

  • Use a light moisturiser on your hands, wrists, feet, knees and any other dry areas.

SHANI'S TIP

Exfoliate and shave the day before tanning because it prevents the tan from seeping into your pores. If this is not possible wait at least an hour after prepping to apply your tan. 

Step Two - Tanning Application

  • Always use a Tanning Mitt to apply your tan (You may also like to use a plastic glove under the mitt for extra protection);

  • Apply around 3 pumps of foam to the mitt for each section of your body;

  • Rub the foam into your skin in a circular motion to ensure there are no streaks;

  • Leave elbows, knees and hands until last when you have the least amount of product on the mitt;

  • After you’ve applied as many layers as you want (the more layers, the darker the result) wait at least 5-10 minutes before putting clothes on;

  • Use dark, loose fitting clothing as the colour may transfer.

SHANI'S TIP

Apply baby powder over your tan with a really fluffy makeup brush to take away stickiness and prevent the colour from transferring onto your clothes

Step Three - Maintaining Your Tan

  • Wait as long as possible before showering (Ultra Dark should be kept on the skin for at least 6 hours);

  • Wash tan off under a cold shower for no longer than 15 seconds;

  • Gently pat your skin dry with a dark towel;

  • Use a moisturiser every day to keep your skin hydrated.

SHANI'S TIP

When your tan starts to fade or if you want an extra boost of colour use the Bondi Sands Wash Off in Dark. Moisturise your whole body before spraying onto the skin and rubbing in.
